Using foresight in development

Many development projects fail because the environment for which they were designed changes. It may be something as simple as a change of government, where the new people in charge have different priorities. Sometimes it may be that global markets and their prices shift. Worse, it could be war, famine or global pandemics that throw well planned projects up-side-down.

It was therefore heartening to train a group of development practitioners on a toolbox of various foresight activities that could help when planning new projects, or which could be used with the Chief of Party to keep moving the project along in regular up-date planning sessions.
