Virtual Cocktail for Foresight Professionals in Firms, Governments and International Organisations

In a rapidly changing world, foresight is an essential mindset needed. It was great
last week to have had the chance to gather a group of 25 like-minded individuals in a
dynamic 2D space (Kumospace) from private and public sectors located in Africa,
Asia and Europe. Participants were encouraged to navigate in and out of
conversations by moving their video feed as a little bubble around the screen. This
enabled them to meet new people and mingle virtually, as with a reception in the real
world. The tool lets participants hear neighbours, but not others who are more
distance away.
The conversations that unfolded were as diverse as the participants themselves.
From trend analysis and horizon scanning to scenario planning and strategic
foresight, every topic is fair game and lots of experiences and opinions were shared.
In any case we plan to continue our series of virtual cocktails (this was the 7 th ), with
the next one planned to focus on people interested in geopolitics…
